Gianluca UlivelliGianluca Ulivelli was born in Vinci, Italy, in 1970.
He studied piano and experimental composition with R. Pezzati and S. Sciarrino at Conservatorio "L. Cherubini" in Florence. He studied also composition with H. Lachenmann and M. Stroppa at Musikhochschule Stuttgart, Germany.
He took master classes with F. Donatoni in Siena, G. Grisey in Reggio Emilia, G. Kurtàg in Darmstadt, B. Ferneyhough, S. Gervasoni and B. Pauset in Royaumont, France.
Ulivelli received various prizes and scholarships, among others:
First composition prize from the city Stuttgart (Germany), Second composition prize from the city "Paradiso-Bertinoro" (Italy), First composition prize from the city Avellino (Italy), Foundation "Federico Del Vecchio"-Firenze (Italy), Foundation "Heinrich Strobel Stiftung des SWR"-Freiburg (Germany), Foundation "Voix Nouvelles"-Royaumont (France), Foundation "Akiyoshidai International Art Village" (Japan), "Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik"-Darmstadt (Germany), German Office of the culture ("Kulturstaatsministerium Bundesrepublik Deutschland"), "Cité Internationale des Arts"-Parigi (France), "Zentrum für Kunst und Medientecknologie-ZKM"-Karlsruhe (Germany) in the years 2007 and 2013, "Nomination from Akademie der Künste" for the prize "Ferruccio Busoni"-Berlin (Germany), Foundation "Experimental Studio für akustische Kunst"-Freiburg (Germany) in the years 2010 and 2013.

From 2006 to 2008 he was professor for composition at the "Istituto di Alta Formazione "G. Donizetti" in Bergamo.
Since 2008 is professor of music theory at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali "R. Franci" in Siena.
